What Can I Bring with Me on the Ferry?

Travelling with Ragusa Xpress? Whether you're heading out for a holiday, visiting family, or exploring somewhere new, here's a helpful guide on what you can bring onboard. From luggage and vehicles to pets and personal items, we've got you covered!

🧳 Luggage – What's Included with Your Ticket

Every passenger ticket includes a generous luggage allowance. To keep things organised and make your journey more comfortable, here's what you can bring:

  • One small bag (max 5kg) – This should fit under your seat and not exceed 20cm (height) x 40cm (width) x 25cm (length).
  • One carry-on bag (max 10kg) – Ideal for items you want to keep close during the trip. Dimensions shouldn't exceed 20cm x 55cm x 40cm.

Note: If there's no space left in the passenger areas, we may check in your carry-on during boarding.

  • One checked luggage item (max 30kg) – Larger suitcases or bags must be placed in the vessel's designated luggage area, as directed by our crew. Max size: 50cm x 40cm x 80cm.

While we do our best to keep your belongings safe, we recommend not placing valuables in checked bags. The company is not responsible for lost or damaged luggage.

🚗 Bringing Your Vehicle

Planning to travel with your car? Here's what you need to know:

  • Personal use only: Vehicles must not carry items for resale or commercial use.
  • Fuel type matters: LPG and electric vehicles must be declared when you book. Safety checks apply, and damaged or unsafe vehicles may be denied boarding.

Vehicle size limits:

  • Max height: 2.20 metres
  • Max total weight: 3 tonnes
  • Trailers are not allowed.

Once onboard:

  • Leave your vehicle in gear (or 'P' for automatic), handbrake fully engaged.
  • Make sure all personal items inside are secure – we're not liable for any damage during the trip.
  • Refuelling or charging of any kind (including e-scooters or bikes) is not allowed onboard.
  • No passengers or pets may remain in the vehicle during the journey.

🐾 Travelling with Pets

Pets are welcome onboard, but we want to ensure everyone – furry or not – has a pleasant trip. Here's what to keep in mind:

  • Declare your pet when booking your ticket.
  • Required documents: Bring a valid pet passport, vaccination certificates, and any other required paperwork for international travel.
  • Small pets (up to 70cm x 51cm x 51.5cm) may travel in a leak-proof cage beside your seat or on your lap. A maximum of 10 small pets is allowed per trip.
  • Medium and large pets must remain in designated areas on the lower or upper deck, kept on a leash and wearing a muzzle. Only 4 larger pets are allowed per trip.
  • Barking or anxious pets may be moved to a quieter outside deck area for everyone's comfort.
  • Important: Pets are not allowed to stay inside vehicles during the voyage.

Service and guide dogs are fully accepted onboard with valid ADI or IGDF certification and must wear their identifying harness or vest.

What Items Are Not Allowed Onboard?

For everyone's safety, there are certain items you cannot bring on the ferry. These include (but are not limited to):

  • Explosives, fireworks, flares
  • Gases and flammable liquids (like fuel containers)
  • Weapons, firearms, or ammunition
  • Corrosive or toxic chemicals
  • Sharp or blunt instruments that could cause harm

Our team, in cooperation with port authorities, may carry out security checks on passengers, vehicles, and baggage in line with international safety regulations (ISPS Code).
